Workshop description package (B) and (C) Adv beg - Adv

The content of the workshops is the same for all levels and suits anyone knowing the basic elements of tango. We don't teach particular steps (but advance from simple to more advanced exercises). Instead the idea is to develop/deepen the role/roles and widen the interplay. The division into groups means that you will practice with participants on your own level.

Tango Release - Folding & Unfolding roles
(Workshop with Adriana Pegorer) Tango release develops partnering work into a playful dialogue drawing from contact improvisation and release based techniques principles. It also aims to 'release' the stereotypes related to gender in the leading and following roles. We will focus on the exchanging of the roles by folding and unfolding the space/s in our own body, in the partnership with our partner and the surrounding 'spaces' (other couples, the environment, the music). We will explore how the 'steps' can emerge from this bodily attunement and awareness. Please bring comfortable clothing and socks/flat shoes as well as your tango attire. It is possible to participate as a follower or a leader and as a dancer knowing both roles. For all levels from advanced beginners to advanced.

Get into Flow with Sliding Roles!
(Workshop with Charlotte Rivero and Sabine Berge) Queer tango dancing is associated with the exchange of roles and same sex dancing but it also gives you the possibility to explore sliding roles, in such an intense connection that it is not always clear who is leading and who is following. You just dance with a feeling of flow. Charlotte will introduce you to the techniques for reaching this by opening to a connection that flows both in close and open embrace and by guiding you to ways of listening to the music that provides opportunities to dance in a queer way.  We will focus on some tango technique tools as dissociation and quality of movements to create a mutual dance, with the possibility of exchanging and sliding the dancing roles within a traditional embrace aiming to a more active  following and more sensitive leading. It is possible to participate as a follower or a leader and as a dancer knowing both roles. For all levels from advanced beginners to advanced.

Spice your Dance with Exchange of roles!
(Workhop with Tobias Funke and Natascha Russo) Invite the change of roles and how to take over: We will warm up with basic leading concepts common in contact-improvisation, then cautiously shift to elements of tango. How to use body tension smoothly changing roles? How to offer or take over change of roles and which role the embrace can play? What is a good position or good steps for it in a crowded Milonga? We will certainly find it out together, leaving space for exchange and exercise. The Lesson will be open to all dance levels; you can come as a single person. It is possible to participate as a follower or a leader and as a dancer knowing both roles. For all levels. Prerequisites: Basic elements of tango.
